I'm not sure why, but HI!?!
Anywhoo, my take on it is that they are finally coming to the realization that unfortunately nV is winning the dumbA$$ market. And they are paying tons of money for the MXs and FX5200s.
I sure as heck HOPE they don't sell their souls to the devil and actually 'cheat' to accomplish their goals, but we shall see.
I hope that they are basically saying, do everything within reason to make us look good. It would seem like the standard fair except the wording.
Quickly on each bullet.
. 'Influence'? Hopefully influence how benchmarks are devloped (like futuremark, aquamark, etc. get involved in other words) not cheat to win the benchmark.
. DX9 > CG, well of course, CG is nV's baby and they plan to make it nV exclusive paths, features, etc.
. Compatibility, sure makes sense.
. Provide screenies, etc. Doesn't seem right, detracts from realistic/objective reviews IMO.
. Provide quotes, ok same old PR tools used now, see any description of hardware at any review see similar lines.
. Demo Pods, makes sense, just like any other trade show/etc.
. ISV @ Launch, makes sense again.
. PR = PR, nothing new here.
. Game Bundles, makes sense, their OEM 'partners' and nV's OEMs have been doing it for years.
. Pint of sale demos. I like that. Alot better than simply seing a pirated photocopy/screencapture of THG 3Dmarks which is what I see alot of nowadays.
I'm a little shocked at the first points but the rest seems the same as any other industry.
That's my two frames worth on it.
