I wonder what they mean by "Influence benchmarks in ATi's favor".

That could mean a variety of things. First comes to mind is cheating  . But it could also mean optimizati, or work on improving technology. That's a rather vague statement. Also, I would like confirmation that these slides are authenticly from ATi before I make further accusations.

But how do we know these slides are authentic yet? ATi could very well be cheaters. I just want to wait until more proof that some NV fanboy didn't whip these up with Power Point or something before I start drawing conclusions set in stone.

BTW, How long does it take Fredi to receive and respond to messages. I'm trying to get my brother to sign up on the forums but he accidentally typed in the wrong E-mail address. Is Fredi the only one that can help me out?

Find another thread to discuss that in please.
As far as the slides being authentic, there is a discussion going on at B3D about them, and no one has called them fakes.

If ATi has been cheating, I'm going to go nuts. I wouldn't know who to support anymore.

That cooling system looks (impressive) but if it makes noise like the previous Nvidia card expect the XT to fail. I don't know what to say about the benmark comment. It depends what its real meaning is. That comment is at the very least a very poor choice of words in these times..

Keep in mind PR perspective.....marketing......
What the first point refers to is the marketing act of countering nvidia's age old marketing campaign of "look at our benchmarks". If I were in ATI's marketing dept, the first thing I would need to do is express to everyone that the benchmarks should show ATI in a strong light. It by no means shows cheating.....This is simply a maketing tactic to influence prospective buyers.

When marketing, you always need to show what your strong points are before revealing what the conpetitions weak ones are. ATI's marketing is a more positive one, as opposed to nvidia's.

Cheat promotion....dont thing so.

Yes, that was indeed a very poor choice of words. That first point in the bulleted list was vague and unclear. I wonder in what way or context? The way that they get benchmarks done in "favor of ATi" makes all the difference in the world. Its not like the bulleted point blatantly stated
"* Cheat on Benchmarks". Those words could very easily mean cheating on benchmarks among other possible meanings as well. If ATi is cheating on benchmarks I'll be REALLY PISSED!

I gotta go eat fellas. I'll be back when I'm done.

'Influence Benchmarks in ATI's favor' is basically, showing customers ATI's best benchmark results. After all, its typical 'powerpoint' use of english which is usually poor.

I'm not sure why, but HI!?!

Anywhoo, my take on it is that they are finally coming to the realization that unfortunately nV is winning the dumbA$$ market. And they are paying tons of money for the MXs and FX5200s.

I sure as heck HOPE they don't sell their souls to the devil and actually 'cheat' to accomplish their goals, but we shall see.
I hope that they are basically saying, do everything within reason to make us look good. It would seem like the standard fair except the wording.

Quickly on each bullet.

. 'Influence'? Hopefully influence how benchmarks are devloped (like futuremark, aquamark, etc. get involved in other words) not cheat to win the benchmark.
. DX9 > CG, well of course, CG is nV's baby and they plan to make it nV exclusive paths, features, etc.
. Compatibility, sure makes sense.
. Provide screenies, etc. Doesn't seem right, detracts from realistic/objective reviews IMO.
. Provide quotes, ok same old PR tools used now, see any description of hardware at any review see similar lines.
. Demo Pods, makes sense, just like any other trade show/etc.
. ISV @ Launch, makes sense again.
. PR = PR, nothing new here.
. Game Bundles, makes sense, their OEM 'partners' and nV's OEMs have been doing it for years.
. Pint of sale demos. I like that. Alot better than simply seing a pirated photocopy/screencapture of THG 3Dmarks which is what I see alot of nowadays.

I'm a little shocked at the first points but the rest seems the same as any other industry.

That's my two frames worth on it.

i do wonder..... if some games are made with some CG, what will ATi do? It'd be so funny if ATi out perform nVidia in a CG based game :D:D:D::D:D:D

I had no major problems with the other points on the bulleted list, its just the first one that perked up my attention. We need more comments. Comeon, Williamette, Phial, Cleeve, Eden, davepermen, Spitfire_x86, daddywags, speeduk, kinney, flamethrower, dhlucke, and anyone else I missed. I summon all of you to respond to this latest announcement.

The funniest thing was when the DAWN demo was 'unwrapped' and it 'played' better on the ATI's than on the FXs.

Man did that ever steam nV fans.

UFO, I think without more info, we'll simply be overlaping each other's opinions. I'd like to see what more people think about it, but like GW says, potential evil lurks within those words, and until it's 'splained' then we can only think that it's hopefully poorley worded.

Tomb Raider uses CG and is a TWIMTBP game and the radeons beat it
TR has a CG option, dont try to make people think it's the only alternative.

I think this is bullcrap dredged up by some Nvidia fanb0i who sleeps with his 5900 Ultra and uses his VacuSuck 2000(tm) 5800 to wank off. This thing could have came from anyone from anywhere. For example, I've decided to make my own 'leaked' Nvidia slides and release them randomly on a forum....any suggestions on input? I highly doubt ATI is going to do anything even remotely shady right now...they're getting alot of support because Nvidia did the shady stuff and got caught. ATI know's their under the microscope. As I said, this slide is bullcrap. Anyone can claim they got 'leaked' info. Who is this guy anyways that he's in soooo tight with ATI yet he backstabs them by posting this? And notice he claims it is 'from ATI' What a load of crap.

Dude, the simple fact of the whole slide featuring poor choices of words makes it look retarded and fishy. First off, if they were trying to influence benchmarks for the future then why does it say as a heading "ATI marketing advantages"? That implies that they already have this advantage when it is clear that they don't. And what benchmarks? DX9? 3dmark? Aquamark? All benchmarks? That's a little vague isn't it? I mean, each benchmark does something different...if they leave it open ended like that they come off sounding like jackasses...and that's something I wouldn't say of either Nvidia or ATI...they're not going to have slides of something this important that is not specific. It has to be specific when dealing with directions a company wants to go. I still say this is some Nvidi0ts power point, caffeine laced attempt to pull some more people over to his/her side. Remember that one is the loneliest number...
