Vecflash loader

Hey all,

I got my VecFlash (the very last one, according to Richard!), which
works like a charm (I used to wonder why all those great-sounding
prototypes never got released. I wonder no more! I'm also glad I never
paid $100 for Polar Rescue, although it seems fun.). I'm running Win98
and it's connecting through com 1, and that works great. I can load
one bin at a time into a bank, but I cannot get the loader to work.
For some reason, it seems to be "stuck" on com 2. I cannot find a way
to change this, nor can I find a way to get the Vecflash to connect on
com 2. Needless to say, laoding the bins one at a time is tedious and
wasteful of the flash memory. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Richard. I'll give it a go. (It was seeing the games all
right, I just couldn't get it to recognize that the Vecflash was
connected, so I couldn't select or load them) I'll let you know how it
works.

Matt, try the new loader -

.........also, you must have vfm.bin in the same directory as your games
bins.

Richard,

Worked just fine when I used loader by itself. I erroneously thought
that the two programs worked together, not separately. It also took me
awhile to figure out that I had to make vfm.bin (sp.?) NOT-read-only
through properties, as it wouldn't let me access it at first.

One glitch, however. When I loaded Art Master with Vecflash, it worked
fine, but it won't come up when I use the loader. I get the title
screen and then blank. The problem is not my pen, as Melody Master
works just fine. Any ideas? Thanks, and, again, great item!

I think it was read-only when I unzipped it, as I don't think I fiddled
with the properties. My three-year-old may have been playing with the
computer, though, so you never know what he might have done... I will
try the Art Master fix tonight. Thanks.

That's strange, did it come through read only when you unzipped it ?

It probably needs patching.

Put it through the old loader - www.vectrex.biz/VecFlash.zip

It will patch and save it back, it should then work with my new loader
(which doesn't have the auto-patcher in yet).

Art Master works just fine now. Thanks, Richard. (my son likes to
draw dinosaurs on the "daddy-game" so you can see why this was so
important...)

Roberto,

I think it requires the pen. I built the MVLP (instructions on
playvectrex.com) for about $10 in parts, just like it said. It took a
little longer than an hour for me, though. :). Works like a charm!
As I write, my son and I just finished a round of War of the Robots.
He's just about as good at it as I am...

My goal is to "educate" my son concerning the beauty of video games to
make it easier to justify future purchases to mommy.

Awwww...

I've got a 2 and a half year old son, so I wonder if he'd like to do the
same? :)

Does Art Master only work with a pen? I've assumed so and therefore
never tried it. If so, I think I want one...
