I had to reboot my computer because an application wouldn't work and when i
rebooted i have my desktop background but nothing else, no icons.......can
anyone help please, should i reinstall xp??

Hi,

Your user profile may have been corrupted. Try shutting down the system for
20 minutes, then restarting. If the same thing happens, the next step is to
boot from the WinXP CD and enter the Recovery Console, then run "chkdsk C:
/r" and see if it helps. Otherwise, you will need to logon as administrator
and create a new account for yourself, then copy over the old profile using
the steps outlined here:
