Can you more accurately describe what you are trying to do.

The term "download" generally refers to something you do to a file when
connected on the Internet. You download a file and save it to your computer
for later use. Installation is something you can do from various mediums -
such as from a CD-ROM or Diskette or even the file you downloaded in the
previous explanation.. Burning or writing to CDs is something you can do to
backup your information on portable media..

Which one of those are you doing??

Have you looked at your Event Logs to see what it reports when you are
having this trouble?

What applications are you using/installing when you have the trouble?

'Hi Shenan, sorry for the lack of info, not really clued up when it comes to
pc's as you can probably tell...I'm trying to burn some photo's from my c
drive onto a disk in my e drive, cd rom. It has had no trouble in the past
reading cd's but for some reason when the cd writing wizard gets to the end
of completing the function it freezes and locks me out. I'm running windows
XP, I've just had a look at the event log and it's saying I've had a service
control manager error. Hope this information is somewhere near to useful.
Thanks, Dave.

What burning program are you using? Are you using Windows' built in
program? May I suggest trying something like Nero. Let us know what type
of burner you have and what software you're using. What type of burning
meaning, Sony, Plextor, Samsung, etc.
