Hmmm ... some people...
I've had the entire 3D imager setup (including both additional games)
and I've played them several times (although not lately). Personally,
I was a little dissapointed with the entire 3D color setup. It isn't as
good as I expected.
I've had it since I bought in new in the mid 80s. Seeing those prices
paid, I'm contemplating just selling them to some crazy collector! And
I too still have the original boxes!

How much do you think this guy would pay for my MiniCade?

No, there has to be more than that because I've found 2 of them.

Plus there is at least one built in modern times.

Didn't Christian Scott find 2 as well ?

I took a look at the timer board (when I repaired Nico's) it could be
replicated easily, but I'd build it differently / simpler if I was making a
MiniCade.
The rest is all metal / woodwork + a coin mechanism (get them on EBay).

I think I got one of mine from Christian. From what I have seen reading
the newsgroup and talking to people at the classic game expo, etc. I
think there are at least 8 known minicades in collector hands. At least
one and maybe 2 had the wood case rebuilt.
The board would be pretty easy to replicate, but why do that when you
could change the software to use one of the buttons on the 2nd
controller to trigger a coin-up. I think it would be sweet to have a
coin operated multicart where one of the buttons on the 2nd controller
to trigger a credit via the menu software. You could then wire the coin
mech to this button.
The hardest part for me to replicate would be the metal on the front and
control panel, but I just don't know anyone who does that kind of work.

The Minicade is not as rare as we first thought it was. When I got mine,
I thought I had to quickly manage to buy it because there wouldn't be a
second chance and as I'm quite insane in this situation, I spent a lot.
Then after, I saw 2 or 3 others available for sale on the net. 8 to 10
must be a minimum.
Making a repro of this thing is quite hard in my opinion. First because
it has the front made in bent sheet of metal and secondly because one
has to be very motivated to build something that doesn't bring much to
the pleasure of playing. Using a standard Vectrex is more efficient so
why would one be willing to build this thing ?
It also has a nice transparent vinyl sticker on both sides and if
someone wants to repro this one, I would be very interested as I need
this kind of sticker for the bubble stand but I still haven't found an
affordable way to make a small series.
