FURY - I, CYBORG 'VI' received ..

At first I was skeptical of this 'mo-hawk' .. the picture on the jewel
case isn't flattering, but when I played the game and turned his head to
the side .. whoo hoo .. check out those spikes! ;-)

Anyway, the 'X' version has minor differences to the previous release.
The cart still includes a very nice 'DIY' booklet with an additional
booklet feature more fantastic artwork and background information about
the characters. I'm easily defeated by the game, but it has a lot of
playability.

The movement through the corridors can get slightly tedious as the cyborg
is a bit slow moving. I'm also terrible at second guessing the electric
bolts .. I don't know if its even possible to improve on that or to just
be lucky.

I have #137 of the previous version which I am now considering
putting up for sale. Anyone interested in that?

Thanks for the kind words! Please double-check your standard version
of I, CYBORG. I'm sure you have #132 (not #137 which just shipped last
week to someone else), but I don't have my list in front of me here.

I received mine too (III) and I really like it.

Especially the little signed copy of the collector's edition manual.
Very nice, not only from a collector's point of view, but it also shows
everything was made with a lot of love and attention to detail.

an excellent addition to the collection I would say.

Thanks George!

It was a special edition of 10 cartridges, containing a cheat mode
and a couple other special features.

Number X/X checking in. I played with it a bit today and it's pretty
good. I especially like the manuals and the cart case!

Sorry to hear that a couple of you have not yet received your packages.
All 10 of these went out together the same day (the 20th of June).

I shipped 4 to the UK. I don't believe that I've heard anything
regarding the other two yet (delivered or not).

I ask that you please give it through the end of this week. If no
luck, please check with your postman and post office. A few times now
there have been situations where the package was sitting at the post
office for some reason (with some international orders), and simply
needed to be picked up.

Please update us here or send me an email.

Thanks, and again, sorry for any inconvenience,
George

Hi Marc,

I'm glad that you finally received it!

I'm sorry about the customs tax...
I get the request from some of my
international customers to either
check the "gift" box, or to understate
the value of the contents (or both)
when filling out the customs form.
I don't do it because it's illegal.
Whether these taxes are fair or not is
a different subject, and I would agree
that they seem unfair. The solution,
however, isn't for me to falsify customs
forms. I find it to be a little forward
of people when I get the request because
it would involve me committing a crime
(albeit a small crime) so that the package
recipient can save a few bucks.

I understand people will have different
perspectives on this, but please consider
the fact that I've received this request
from a number of international customers.
Had I conceded, by now I would have falsified
dozens and dozens of customs forms.

It looks like mine has arrived. :)

Just got a card through the door when the postman came.

George you need to tick gift when sending to 'friends' in the UK, it saves
us money! Customs and excise will let me have my parcel when I pay another
$15!

Still at least it has arrived!

Hi George,

Me too. Thank you.

> I'm sorry about the customs tax...

I understand and appreciate your position.

I, like anyone, am never happy with paying taxes, but I do understand them
and pay them.

My problem with receiving goods from outside the UK is the crazy charging
structure they apply.

The game worked out at £28. We can import up to £18 with no charges. So the
overspend was £10.

VAT on this would be £1.75 (17.5%)

I would happily prepay the VAT if that were possible.

However I got charged £8.75! So they have charged £7 to basically stick a
sticker on the package and collect the £1.75 off of me. To rub salt into the
wounds, they won't deliver a package with a charge and I have to travel 10
miles to the postal depot to collect the package myself and have to take
time off work to do this as they have silly opening hours for collections.

That is why I ask for gift to be checked!

Cheers

You can write "2nd hand game" in the description, if it's not a brand new
item there shouldn't be duty. As the game's for an old system it's ok to
say it's 2nd hand imo. :¬)

Mine too - also got a card through the door today. £4.76 tax, plus £4.00
handling charge.

Picked it up, cartridge number I - coooool!)

Damn this game is hard. I think I'm going to need the cheat!

No. Whilst items less than £18 are exempt form VAT (£27 for gifts), for
items over that VAT is charged on the full amount.

You can also stick stamps on the card to cover the cost, pop it in the post
and they'll deliver next day. Ok, so most people don't just happen to have
£8.75 worth of stamps, but at least it's only a trip to your local post
office rather than the depot. (Most newsagents also sell stamps.)

What is odd though, I recently received my Vectorcade from Brett (VERY nice
BTW) and there was duty to pay on that. But this time postman knocked at
the door, gave me a phone number to call where I paid by credit card, and
received it there and then. I guess they don't do that for smaller items?

Dutch duties seem te be a little less eager on this subject. Got mine
thru customs without taxes.

But it's a lottery.

Glad to hear it arrived! It looks like everybody got theirs now.

It seemed to take a much longer time than normal to get to the UK this
time. The Airmail Letter Post service is supposed to be 4-7 days.

UK Royal mail is really really bad and unreliable lately. Not only sending
something to but also receiving from the UK suffers from terrible
delays (I've waited for anything between 2 to 6 weeks for packages) and
also packages do get lost. I really wonder what those guys are doing over
there. Even mail from the US arrives much faster over here than UK mail.

I hope sending in the UK itself is better ? Otherwise I really pity you
guys on the other side of the North Sea....
