The NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun made it quite clear that the graphics industry would no longer be the primary focus point of the company.

I read this earlier but figured it was a cop out...kind of an excuse or something as to why they are going downhill in the GPU field. Just my take on it. Then again, I figured it might have also been a bit of opinion from the reporter.

Yeah I know! No one here mentioned it (or I never noticed) so I figured I would post, just in case...

Actually it was mentioned in here as part of someone's thread. One of the main reason's I didn't post anything about it when [H], the Inquirer and XbitLabs reported it last week.

But for those of you not familiar with the situation, it's not that they are leaving the GPOU market, they are simply trying to move to other markets that have more potential. IT wouldn't surprise me if they expect far more of their money to come from chipsets and such. The thing is that their reputation come from the GPU side of things. And with the problems with the nForce3 chipset they may be pulling out too soon. If their nForce3 crashes out, and then their GPUs crash out, they may be in serious trouble. I think this kind of announcement was inevitable, but I would wait until the transition is almost a sure thing, not simply hope.

Well considering that there are going to be 3 new players right away. From a business point of view it would be wise to sit back and let them kill each other off then return to a semi-stable market. Just my take on it, also they have a great chip-set development program over there. Screw the visual processors everyone regardless of what they buy needs a chipset.

Yes this is old news.....mostly known in the investing forums. I doesnt mean Nvidia is out of the graphics card market. Just that most growth is sitting with cell phones right now.
