I currently have a chaintech fx5200 128mb ddr card, (Ok, ha ha, I know it was the dumbest purchase ever). I just ordered a Jaton FX5600 256mb ddr, is there gonna be a huge difference between the 5200 and the 5600? It cost me $100 more, so is it worth it?
I still have the option to order an Ati radeon 9600 128mb ddr for the same price? I think the guy told me the ati card was a sapphire. Is there such a thing or was I trippin? Which one should I get? Any comments or suggestions would be welcomed.
Thanx

The 5600 would be the SECOND dumbest video card purchase you ever made. It has pathetically weak DirectX 9 shaders.

Go for the 9600 and overclock it. If you can afford it... and it shouldn't be much more, maybe $20 to $40... get the 9600 PRO.

That would be the SMARTEST video card purchase you ever made.

Radeon 9500 (modded to PRO w/8 pixel pipelines)
AMD AthlonXP 2400+ (O/C to 2600+ with 143 fsb)
3dMark03: 3586

I gotta hand it to you Cleeve, I loved your wording & style of your post there. I was laughing on the inside.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

ATI build their own boards, and label them "Built by ATI". They also sell the chips to other board makers, and the cards get labelled "Powered by ATI".

Sapphire are actually the guys who make the "Built by" cards. Their own-branded cards are labelled "Powered by", but there's no difference between those and the "Built by" cards, except that they use a different fan. The cards are just as good as the excellent "Built by ATI" cards, since they're essentially identical.
