Im running a venerable old Tyan S1837UANGR motherboard, bios v2.00f with AGP spec. 1.0 compliant ie. AGP 1x, 2x
Chipset is Intel 440GX, and I'm running dual PIII 1.100 Ghz cpus. So the board still has some gas in the tank, and the hard drives are all SCSI, so I don't want to walk away from it yet.
Any good thoughts to running an updated card in this 3.3v slot? Can one run an AGP 8x or AGP 4x card in this AGP port without dire consequences. Any help or experience in this area is appreciated. BTW my old CL GeForce 256DDR packed it in with a dead fan.
Most newer cards will work in that board. The 9600 series are the only cards I know of that won't. The Radeon 9500 series and 9700 series do work in your board. piii_man has a 9500 on his BX board (BX is the desktop version of the GX server chipset).
