Radeon 9200 vs 9600

So what's the better choice for gaming: the 128-bit Radeon 9200 (128MB) or the 64-bit Radeon 9600 (128MB, non-Pro)?? I figure the 9600 cos it's the latest card and has a higher clock speed, but how much impact does the 'bit' rating have? cheers.

The 9600np is directx 9, the 9200 is 8.1

64-bit only has half the bandwidth that the 128-bit verion has(assume only difference between chips are the memory interface).

In the i think the 9600(64-bit) has a slight edge due to its better AA/AF...

PS. i wouldnt touch either as gamer, ti4200 is way better...

the R9600 (Dx9 part) is a totally diff core to a R9200 (Dx8.1 part)even with 64 vs 128 bit memory, the 9600 should kick the arse offa the 9200... as to a ti4200 (Dx8.1 part) being faster than either (unless that was sarcasm) I find that unlikely, especially when you crank up the FSAA/Ansiotropic filter settings or play a Dx9 game...

A Ti4200 will likely beat a 9600 with a 64 bit memory interface quite handily.

Great GPU or not, the 64 bit memory interface really gibbles the available bandwidth, marneus.

The Geforce2 MX 200 has a 64 bit memory interface, too. 'nuff said.

Go for the Ti4200 in that price range, or bite the bullet and get yourself a 9600 non-pro with a 128 bit memory interface.

And if you can afford it, the 9600 PRO is the way to go, hands down...

64-bit memory interface doesnt provide enough bandwidth to crank up AA/AF setting. :tongue:
