I'm trying to replace my Radeon 64MB DDR ViVo with a Creative GF3Ti200 but every time I boot up normally after installing the drivers, it gets to the windows XP loading screen and the blue bar goes across but as soon as only the left 2 blue blocks are left the system hangs.

The system boots up fine in safe mode, without the drivers installed or when I put my Radeon back in. I'm using the latest official nVidia drivers, I've uninstalled my ati drivers, deleted the ati folder and gone into the System32 folder and deleted everything that begins with ATI but it will not boot up with the drivers installed. Would there be any ATI files still on my system conflicting or any other reason to stop it not working?

I've just installed the older 40.72 drivers and they don't cause the system to hang but are too old to run my games.

I'm getting the hangs on the 45.23 drivers, would there be any reason for this?

I've also cleared my temp file and got rid of all the ati files in the temp folder.

You may have some residual Ati drivers hanging around. Try going to "driver heaven" and getting thier "driver cleaners".

Still no luck. It won't boot into windows with the 45.23 drivers. Occasionaly I also get this error.

RUNDLL

Error loading C:\Windows\System32\NVMCTRAY.DLL

How are the 40.72 too old to run your games. I have a GF3 and had 2?.?? untill recently. Del all ati entries in the registry, btw

Hmm maybe you should try reinstalling windows.
I'm using my Prolink gf3 ti 200 for almost two years and never had any problem with it (and i have instaled 45.23 drivers right now).
But if it still hangs after reinstalling just use the previous driver version.

The game was released about 2 weeks ago and has errors with earlier det drivers. How do I safely remove ati from the registry? I'm trying not to re-install windows XP as I'm not the only person to use the PC and it'll cause a nightmare for everybody.

Game or not, try older versions of the Dets and see if you can get the system to run. That's your first priority.

If it works, then you can mess with newer versions.

Radeon 9500 (hardmodded to PRO, o/c to 322/322)
AMD AthlonXP 2400+ (o/c to 2600+ with 143 fsb)

It's working with the 41.07 Dets but it on load-up it's stay at the same screen the newer dets crashed on for about 3 minutes before booting up.

How do I get into the registry to make sure there's no residual ATI registry keys?
