Ok so I've managed to get a copy of my sapphire 9700pro bios and its using c2 samsung memory. Would it now be possible to get a 9800pro bios (or non pro) and flash my 9700pro???? Basically I just want the optimizations that the 9800 has. And since I use win98se, I cant use the omegas to get it...

A guy over at hard forums did it on his 9500. Flashed to 9800non pro. He advised another guy that it should work for his 9700 if he has the same memory as the 9800 bios. Since I do I figured it would work? If not, why?

That guy on hard forum got really lucky to have the same memory on 9500np as 9800np.

Anyway in your case it is worth a try, since the core is the same and memory is the same. Just make sure your backup will work when things get messy...

Yeah I have a backup of the bios and it seems like its just the same as the bios on the omega website. I just tried the 9700-9800 soft hack through rivatuner, clocked it up to 380/346 and its fine, so it may work if I flash.

I gained a whole frame a second with the hack in halo ps2 lol. From 52.4fps to 53.3fps with high sound/graphics quality and ps2.

Just edited the bios so now it clocks at 371/337 as default. No more messing with rage3d tweak for me!

The latest Omegas (based on Catalyst 3.8) have the 9500-->9700 and 9700-->9800 hacks for Windows 9X/ME. At least least I think they are there because I was prompted to install the hacks. I just don't have a card that can use them.

If you didn't see the options then unistall both the ATI Control Panel and the ATI video drivers before reinstalling the new Omega drivers.
