Houdini befuddles Workstation cards

A review by Digit-Life shows Houdini confounding the Worksation cards. The Quadros generally beat the competition, but some interesting anomalies.

FireGL8800 (a notoriously underpowered card) beats an FX5900 and a pair of Quadro 4s in the first test, and wipes out the X1, and athe R9800P and R9600P, and even the Wildcat.

In Magnetbubbles the Quadro FX1000 beats the FX2000 (and everything else) by an extra 150%? Strange.

Once again the FireGL8800 outperforms, this time even beats a Quadro FX2000 in springpushcloth?

Obviously things aren't being rendered pushin up the performance.

Looking at the final IQ results, the wildcat looks terrible, and the others look mediocre (not really clear winner, the Quadros seems darker in shadowy parts, but not sure what's the reference image, the X1's don't look AS sharp, but surprisingly the 8800 looks pretty close to the FX2000 IMO, but still goes to the Quadro for shading appearance)

Anywhoo, just thought I'd add something that wasn't about games for a change.

Workstation cards you see are like station wagons, they look ugly, you can't pick up chicks with them, but they, wait, can't pick-up chicks. Ok forget that, get a Hercules R9800Pro or a Gainward FX5950 and go cruising.

Now I'm going to have some of that so called, Iced... Creeeam.

MMmmm Almond Mocha Roca!

Seriously those benchies confused the heck out of me. There's gotta be something go on.

Anyone ever used Houdini?

Well, off to Halo for an hour before bed I think.
BTW Divx 5.1.1 was released today just FYI.

At least we see how normal cards behave in workstation environments, and WOAH!

Damn, it's a big gap. Kinda shows you what these cards COULD do if they had real game OpenGL tweaks. But damn, almost 7 times faster, what temperature are they running at then?

We still need some in-depth workstation cards in games review.

Oh and what's with Digit-Life using some REAL good red bars with card name on the left? There's a new one!

The funny thing is that this was EXTREMELY different than the other tests I've seen. That German test (with MAYA 4.5/5 and 3DsMAX, and SPECViewPerf, etc.) was no where NEAR this much of a gap between the cards. I gues if I move this R9600P to my video rig when I get it's replacement, I'll need to softmod it to T2 to be sure.

Did you notice how the FXs seem to just rock so well as well?
It's just weird, the results for the normal gaming cards.

The thing that really stood out for me, that Freakin' GL8800.

Oh well, it's not a very descriptive test, and there seems to be a lot of issues, so I won't rely on it for now, but it's good to know it's there.

You're right, it IS on fire in the tests! (what a pun ain't it)

ATi needs to seriously work their potential and make it results.
