Timedemo

Is there some guide how to make a timedemo in certain games? I only know how to do it in Quake1 and Quake3. But I want to do it in unrealtournament 2003 and also in battlefield1942 to compare the fps amount of 2 dif graphic cards. Could someone help me and explain how to in those 2 games?
