Back up to Freeagent 500

My laptop recognises my Freeagent 500 and allows me to back up, but when I view what I have backed up it is really "messy". When I used XP it was fine, all in folders, such as My Documents or My Music etc. Now it is really not straightforward at all, any ideas?
