Whenever I startup my computer and logon to Windows XP Pro, it says found new
hardware for my primary channel and secondary channel hardrives but
encounters an error when trying to install them. It acutally said it found
new hardware for all of my hardware after a particularly bad system crash,
but everything else reinstalled sucessfully. My computer worked fine prior to
this dilemma, around the time that i uninstalled SP2 and changed the boot
screen. I've since then defraged, cheched for errors, viruses, and spyware,
reset my boot file and tried just about everything else i can think of.
Currently, my hard drives are "unknown devices" and it simply says "an error
occured during the installation of the device, driver is not intended for
this platform." Any ideas on how to fix it other than reinstalling Windows?

Try the 'roll back driver' feature in device manager, on the hard drive controllers.

It says "No driver files have been backed up for this device." and then
continues to give me the "error occured during the installation of this
platform" when I troubleshoot it.
