So was it all BS about the CAT 3.8s and Monitors?

Seems so.

If you want some more info read the article by Hardware Analysis.

This may not be the last word, but it's definitely got more weight than 'have you heard!?!'.

Makes sense that the whole thing was just a rumor blown out of proportion......I 've been using the cat 3.8's since they came out and have had no problems what so ever :/

Wow, I don't come around for a while and look at all I miss. I have been using the 3.8's since the day of release, and I have had absolutely no problems; no performance decreases(or gains for that matter), and no instability or compatability issues. Some of the new features are cool, not much of a big deal to me and not much use...but once again, definitely no problems.

You know what...I've heard that CAT 3.8 blow up your toaster if you have one. It's TRUE!!! I've heard it!

That's basically what this monitor BS was from the start.
Anyone remember the trojan BS that was spread as well?

Can we count the amount of hoaxes and name the rumors heard every year on hardware?

It's funny, really.

I heard someone DL'd Cat 3.8, and as soon as he was asked to reboot, IT KILLED HIM! It's TRUE!! Cat 3.8 will reset your heart, it don't pump no more!

lol

Anyhow, I would like to thank everyone who helped me get my 9800 Pro up and running. It's great, really love the performance. I have DL'd Cat 3.8 and have had no problems.

CoolerMaster ATCS Al case
Asus P4PE 533 mhz
Pentium 4 2.53 GHz
1 GB OCZ PC2700
120 GB Maxtor 7200 RPM
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro 128 mb

You know the CATALYST 3.8 drivers are responsible for World Hunger (especially the munchies), Unrest in the MiddleEast (they slept with SoDamInsane), and the return of Bell-Bottoms!

** Just a bit of advice and in all seriousness, don't download the 'leaked' CAT3.8.5(s) from OMEGA, they do seem to be a little iffy. 3 releases mainly to fix issues, and I still have fast-writes errors (never had them before, nor with the CAT3.8) with them, but with it turned off (as many suggest by default [and so does Omega in his ReadMe])

My DirectDraw application (<A HREF="http://sw-shader.sourceforge.net" target="_new">swShader</A>) fails in fullscreen mode (alt+enter) using Catalyst 3.8 but not with 3.7. The test system has a Radeon 9600 Pro and LCD display.

No such problem with NVidia hardware & drivers...

Im pretty sure that the Cat 3.8's were also responsible for 9/11 too.
Shocking!

Judging by what the general toms person is saying they seem a little less stable than the 3.7's maybe, with the omega's moreso.
But hardly monitor busting goodness.

yeah thats true.
They cheat, lie, steal and mollest children.

The Nvidia drivers on the other hand are perfect!
I just wish they would work properly with my R9800pro, but i allways get problems :frown:

First you misspelled it, it's spelled Cattle-Lust!

And they only cheat on their spouses. Everything else is simply rumour generated to sell FX5200s and Hand Cream for a certain buying demographic.

Anyway's, I'm already past the 3.8(s), and on my way to the 3.9(s) thanks to a forum member. So no worries anymore.

I hear those cure aids, cancer, impotence, and male pattern baldness. ATI will get so much money from these drivers they will be able to accelerate the development of the R500 to include telepathic connections. No more monitors to blow up. <A HREF="http://personal-pages.lvc.edu/~s_chisho/losebrain.wav" target="_new">Just my Brain!</A>

U know if i didnt know you as well as i do i coulda sworn you were bullshittin me.

nah.... not possible

I only play a few games anyway. so driver updates just give me minor speed boosts, most of which are unnoticable.
