To whoever may be able to assist,

My friend has a LE which we just installed new guns on. The game was
working fairly well after the installation - some of the monitor colors were
off just a bit when in the "Color check" mode. Anyway, he moved the game
right up against the wall which happens to be very close to the heater
blower motor & now it no longer sees shots on the screen - it flashes when
the triggers are pulled, but the screen doesn't see them (even off the
screen the guns will not reload). I did a bit of research (couldn't find
anything on Google) & it looks like the tube may now be magnetized,
requiring a "Degaussing" in addition to the relocation of the game AWAY from
magnetic sources.

Before I go ahead with the purchase of a "Degaussing coil" I was hoping
someone could confirm that this sounds correct or tell me if I'm just
chasing a ghost here. TIA for any help, it's very much appreciated!

Kind regards,
Jim B. in PA

P.S. I'll be sure to post the results for archiving/reference purposes
if/when we isolate the trouble...

Hi,
Have you tried going into test mode and calibrating the guns? I dont
think your degauss issue has anything to do with the guns.

Yeah, we tried that. Guns don't register hits on the screen at all. I
don't really suspect the guns because they're brand new & were working fine
but maybe they went bad. I'll pop them open the next time I visit & take a
look at them too; check for 5V, solid connections, etc. In any case, many
thanks for your response...

check to make sure the +5v in close to 5v.. I found an article about the +5v
being to high or to low causing the guns to "freak out" when shot..

Maybe you need to changes the colors back in Color Chack mode to how
they were before you changed the colors. I had to play with the colors
a bit to get my guns to register on my LE II cab. It seems that these
machines are finicky when it comes to how the monitor is calibrated.

Hi

You can do a couple of things.

1: Clean the monitor,Mirror and Glass front with a cloth. No paper
towel or you will scratch the mirror.

2: Cap the Monitor.

3: Turn up the brightness, contrast and Screen controls.

4: Rejuvenate the monitor.

5: Make sure there is no extra light coming in from any over head
lights.

6: Make sure that the grounds are good going to the guns and the rest
of the game.

7: Make sure you have 5.1 volts at the Board not he power supply.

8: Degause ,yes it will make a difference.

The gun needs to see the monitor. It basically is flashing a picture of

a particular part back of the screen using X and Y courdenents to the
Main proccesor. If it dose not see the screen it thinks it is looking
off screen so it flashes and reloads your gun.

Good Luck

Hello RJ (all),

Many thanks for your help/suggestions! I finally got a chance to shoot up
to see my friend & work on his LE. Not really sure what the exact cause
was, but after doing/checking 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 & 8, it now seems to be working
fine. The monitor does display a bit of distortion along the edge & one
spot of discoloration so if I can muster up the courage, I may just try to
install a cap kit & see if that clears it up. In the meantime, all is
working well. Thanks again!

Kind regards,
Jim B. in PA
