what time is best to buy a new cpu?

I am wondering if the holidays are a good time to buy a new computer? are the prices gonna drop again before christmas,or after christmas. I am also curious about when and what new video cards are comming out next year because the fx5950 is just an overclocked 5900 I mean should i wait? I want the next series in nvidias line or ati's i want something more than both of thier latest versions any news of when and what? also do we know what athlon an pentiums are comming next like for example what is next after the p4 extreme and when?

Possible dual core A64 is after A64
and maybe a 754pin version of the AXPs

Q1 2004 = R420 + NV40 + something from XGI possibly
CPU
Q1 2004= Prescott + new A64 + new mobos (grandale for Intel, possibly new nforce chipset)

other then that..... who knows? maybe Sony will start mass producing Cell CPUS and whoop Intel and AMD
