Installed XP SP2 on workstations, they can no longer print to HP LJ3500.
Tried old print drivers, scrubbed printer drivers from server and
workstations, downloaded beta drivers from HP, nothing works. Tried
installing printer from PC eliminating server using IP, same behavior.

XP machines, 2000 and NT print to it no problem. XP SP2 are the only
problem machines. This started immediately after the upgrade.

Make sure that the XP firewall is not blocking the printing:

Firewall is disabled. Turns out it will print jobs from document
applications and such, it just won't print test pages.
