Next Gen Graphics card?

Right now both ATI and nvidia are releasing extended version of their current line of graphics cards, but when will the next generation cards come out? I haven't read or heard anything about something new as of right now. Anybody know if something good will come out early next year before the released of Doom 3 and Half-Life 2?

That's true. But also by the same token there isn't even a ga,e yet that can take advanatge or abuse the extra power these cards would deliver, so there isn't really a market motivation for it either, except for the benchmarks. I don't even care so much about the power, although it would be a nice bonus don't get me wrong. But the PCI-EX option is very attractive to me.

I think it's best to wait until the cards are perfrected, and do enough testing, and perhaps driver development instead of tossing a card into the ring that costs more to produce and doesn't really give it much more than bragging rights, which they currently can claim in some areas.

I'd be interested to see if they were to introduce the R4XX in a workstation format first. That would be the smart move IMO, since it's an area that they trail nV by a pretty large margin. Also they would be able to reap the premium from those buyers willing to pay more (heck it's written off as an expense most times anyways).
