Laptop dvd drive not working

Please my DVD/CD-RW drive (H:) cannot read any cd or dvd plate. I went to the device manager and got a message that the drive is working properly, yet when I insert any disk, it cannot play. I would appreciate a help from anyone please.

Does it spin them up, and give noises?

Maybe it's some dirt on the laser.

(Of course that description is for PC drives. You can freely access laptop DVD player's laser, unless it is the slip-in type.)

Thanks a million for your response. By simple rubbing the lens with a clean dry towel, the dvd started playing both the audio cds and videos. I am very grateful. Thank you.
