An interesting tid-bit @ XbitLabs about TSMC ramping up their 0.11 micron fab. It is mentioned that ATI may use it for their R450 piece (refresh for R42X) or for their mainstream part (refresh for RV380 I assume). I would think that ATI has learned that the cautious strategy of perfecting the process on lower expectation, larger production lines like the main stream would follow here. But I guess it depends on what the market looks like by that time. If the NV40 is significantly ahead of the R42X and it's future architectures, then it seems logical that they would bet it all on the new process, despite the lessons learned from nV doing that, in an effort to get mhz gains over architecture ones. It looks like next year may be more exciting than we thought. But I still don't think there'll be the games to stress these products 'til at least 2005.

But that's just my 2 frames worth.
