Windows Installer error

Hi

Can anyone tell me how to re-install Windows Installer please?

It comes up with the following errors:
<font color=red>'Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running in Windows safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly Installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.'

and

'Could not start the Windows Installer service on local computer.
Error 1069: The srvice did not start due to a logon failure'.</font color=red>

I have tried 'enable' and 'automatic' settings in the services control manager with no luck.

I did a quick search and found a few different fixes for this problem. They're all summed up pretty well in the below thread (scroll down).

What were you trying to do that prompted this error (specifically)?

I was trying to install perfect disk and some other programs that require Windows installer. I'am running tweaked services atm.

BTW thanks for the link, I will try some of those suggestions. I may have to do a repair install anyway.

Ok, I tried all those suggestions in that link and other things, still is not fixed. I might have changed some service or something to stop it from working but I have gone through all of that.

Anyway I will do a repair install after I learn how to make a slipstreamed XP pro SP1 disk. I will make a new post asking for guides on how to do this now.
