So I updated my athlon 1800+ and ti 4600 to 2800+ and 9800xt. Hard- and software installed normally but when I started to test games, asus a7n8x started to complain about cpufail from speakers. Newer games like unreal2 there was also serious graphicbugs, but still game runned smoothly. This happened more often when I turned aa and filters to maximum. When vsync was enabled, errors came much more rarely mut came anyway.

Later I noticed that complains were about 3.3 volts. They were quite grazy every time when errors occured (2.8 minimum). I use ti4600 now and there is no problems. There were never crashes, just gbugs and that annoying error.

Xt didnt heat very much in use and cpus temperature was around 38-45 when in use. Ive tried about everything from bios updates to gcard updates. My psu in HEC 300W which is nearly only choise now :D (and broken components). So isit too small for my set or not?

My old 9700 wouldnt work right on a 300w psu, let alone a 9800XT.... A nice branded 420w should do...

Yes, the 3.3v line dropping to 2.8v would definately indicate a power supply problem.

If you want to save some money, the Fortron Source 350W unit ($36 at Newegg) can actually provide around 420W Peak. Since other brands are rated at peak output, and Fortrons at max continuous load, you can see that this is probably enough power for you. The main reasons I recommend these supplies is that you get a lot of quality for the price, and they use a 120mm fan which can operate at lower RPM for less noise while doing a good job of cooling.
