College laptop

Hello,
im going to college in the fall for firefighting. im going to need a laptop for my basic medical classes, but id also like a gaming laptop too for other times. is it possible for me to get an alienware laptop for gaming and classes? im going to be commuting daily so it has to be portable too, i was looking at the M11x. price around $1500 at most.
could you please give me some recomendations please.
