the exact problem is this:

I have a client that is running xp home with sp2 and has hundreds of photos
in her My Picture Folder.
and they are huge- none of them had been made smaller.
I told her to either resize them or take them off and burn them to a CD
I told her to burn them anyway just in case her computer dies she still has
all the pictures.
When she started to delete each one- another one reappears.
She did not notice this until she found that when trying to delete 300 (she
started with about 1000) she found she had the original 300 back plus 300
more ones so now she had in total 1300.

Maybe it is creating an extra thumbprint but why the heck is it not deleting
the ones she tries to delete?
It sends it to the recycle bin but the same picture reappears and now with a
duplicate one.
Got a suggestion on how to fix this?

thanks
robin

Have your client burn all the photos to a CD. Open the My Picture folder
and select all the photos. Delete them and immediately check the Recycle
Bin. If the photos have made their way there, tell the Recycle Bin to
delete them. Restart the computer and see if those photos are back in the
My Picture folder.

If they are, then run all the anti-virus, adware, spyware and malware
scanners available on the system.

Check the properties of the pesky photo files to see if they are enabled as
Read Only.
