I just bought a new ATI all in Wonder Radeon 9800 Pro and tested it using 3DMark03.
Using Catalyst 3.9. I got a score of 5399:
# GT1: 180.1fps, GT2: 36.5fps, GT3, 33.0fps, GT4 30.5fps
# fill rate (ST): 1703.5 MT/s
# fill rate (MT): 2609.9 MT/s
# Vertex shader 17fps
# Pixel shader 48fps

I believe this score is normal for this video card from what I could dig up in the THG site (please comment if you do not agree).

1)What else could I use to verify my video card or is this test enough ?
2)What could I use to stress test it (i.e. longer run time) ?
3) would changing my DDRAM timings (right now they are way not optimal) improve those scores ?

Wanna stress your card, then run 3Dmark in a loop.

I think Sisoft Sandra also has an option for doing that as well (old version did).

Want other tests? See my Catalyst thread at the top of the page, all the tests I have linked to a source to get a copy yourself.

thanks for your answers.
I can't seem to be able to dl from guru of 3D site (probably firewall issue. Anyway, by looking at my results, do you see anything wrong or is everything as expected (I'd say it's good but I'm not 100% sure).
Also, (you might know that), when using 3dmark03 I got the following results:
Score 253
CPU Test 1: 33.3
CPU Test 2: 3.6
do you know if those are good ? (I'm not even sure how the CPU is tested...)

The results look ok, but then again your card is a bit beyond mine (I'm just going based on my impression from reviews). You might want to check results from people like THG.

Also you should check a CPU review here at THG, I know they have 3Dmk03 CPU tests as part of their benchmark package, a pretty thorough one was the AMD64 review.

If you are having trouble with GURU try google for the same benchmarks, there are a few other sites out there with them, but I just prefered Guru3D, didn't think about firewall issues (I have my SMC wireless router running it's barricade firewall, and I can still download from them).

this score seem a bit low
i get 6000-6200
with my athlon 2700+ oc to 200fsb
i got some no name ddr400 memory
powercolor 9800pro oc to 411/360 mhz
a7n8x mobo

and i could get higher if if overclocker my card more.
so you should get more than me with ur 3 ghz p4

My own beast: Athlon 2700xp+ , Radeon 9800pro (oc: 410/370) , 512mb ddr400. SO MUCH faster than my father pIII 550......

I think you are wrong on this one.
First, you are overclocking your Video Card
Second, from what I could dig up, those 3DMark03 scores are only Video Card related (i.e. I could probably get those scores with a P3 1GHz).
but thanks anyway

that's different, the 3DMARK score 6000 or whatever is only video related I believe (But i have been known to be wrong :D )

anyway, yes my CPU scores are kinda low, I should retest them now that I have properly configured my DDR...

You're kinda right. The CPU does have a small impact like 5-10% of the benchmark outcome versus ~90% of the benchmark being graphics card dependant.

The most important factor will be your graphics card and it's properties. But the CPU/system does have a small impact. Although CPU marks have no impact on the overall benchmark, they are independant of the final score.

Try using the compare option in the 3D Mark result browser. I'm sure you will find some systems similar to yours. Given your video card is not over clocked, I assume, your score looks like it is in the zone. You might confirm by overclocking the card to see if your score improves. You can always rest.

I have a 9800 Pro AIW, and the recording quality is very good. Not DVD quality of course, but close. It's really dependent on the quality of your TV signal.

Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.

I would tend to agree, it can either be fairly poor or fairly good depending on the quality of recording you chose. At best, it's good (not DVD good of course) but my 90G partition will only last something like 1h20...

that can't be right:
when running Aquamark3 (still having 5410 with 3DMark03), I get the following crappy results:
GFX: 2235
CP: 5472
Total: 18571

and with GunMetal2:
Benchmark 1: Min 13,79 Avg 21,75 Max 50,20
Benchmark 1: Min 11,46 Avg 27,15 Max 55,12

Can anyone make sense of that ??

I would have also tried 3DMark 2001 but it requires DirectX 8.1 only...
