Hey All

Ive recently had some very annoying problems with my Daytona GeForce 4 Ti4200 128MB, few weeks ago it started to show strange/buggy graphics - Please look at the screenshots from the game EverQuest.

Notice the buggy graphic spots on texture and chat interface.

However the problem isnt just EverQuest, but all games i play atm. includeing Call of Duty, Dark age Of Camelot, Fifa 2004 and Savage.

Today i tried to replace the GFX card with a older GeForce 256, and the problem vanished.

I know the problem isnt driver related because i also have buggy graphics in BIOS Menu/DOS Prompt.

Whats the problem? And what can i do to help it? Only thing i can come up with is Bad Cooling - but how can i improve it? how do i take off the cooler and what to replace it with in that case? any help would be great !

Thx

/Regards ZimZ

Well, the problem is one of two things: Overheating, or a bad card.

The first thing to do is remove the case cover and blow a fan on the motherboard while running the game. If the problem goes away, it's a cooling problem.

If you haven't overclocked your video card, the your case is getting too hot. You need better airflow... install an intake fan on the front-bottom of the case, and an exhaust fan under your power supply to suck the hot air out. You should be good to go.

If it still has artifacts with the case open and a fan blowing on it, your video card is probably toast, unfortunately...
