Nice R9800XT review @ [H] with PS 1.1/1.4/2.0 comp

While it doesn't give one a good idea of where the R9800XT sits with it's immediate competition, but it does give a good look at the best PS 1.1/1.3 only card GF4ti vs one of the first DX8.1/PS1.4 cards the R8500 vs the Current Top PS2.0/DX9 card the R9800XT.

Some nice screenies. Interesting differences (very visible in Halo) and mention of some interesting limitations for the GF4ti in MaxPayne2 with rain effects. Also the TombRaider screenies show a back and forth IQ diff. with the GF4, Need for speed interesting anomalies for both the GF4 and R8500 , FS2004 seems to work (look) better with AA/AF on the R8500, but the GF4 gets better fps.

Interesting when the R8500 actually keeps up with the GF4ti. I never would have expected that (under any circumstance), and those are tholder games like UT2K3 and ViceCity, weird. Newer games though are there is no competition.

I've decided one thing. My next card will likely be an ASUS, and it's not cause of the babe on the BOX, heck Gigabyte's babe is more a peeler, err.. appealing.

I LOVE VIVO, but don't need all the AIW features, especially since I have digital cable and Satellite (not use AIW tuner), and therefore VIVO will do it for me. If I could get that Video Server function EazyShare <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=378084#378084" target="_new">I posted about yesterday</A> on that card it would be awesome. I could watch something like the World Juniors Hockey Tourney at work! That and Playboy's Flash News.

I like ASUS' MOBO build and most nV lovers seem to like ASUS alot. So I would definitely go that route unless the BBA or Hercules cards have something extra to offer, like a purple LED (or more likely one blue one red spinning fast enough to look purple [never seen an actual purple LED]) WhooHoo!.

BTW, it's the R9800XT not pro, eh! Been thinking about the women too much. You do that and you'll go blind you know! Ooops too late I guess. :tongue:
