How often would you want to host LAN parties? It seems they are every once in a while from what I've seen. Would it be wise to run them everyday?

I think that would be overkill. I like going out of town for a few days here and there. Allows you to see old friends, have down time inbetween parties, and as a whole makes each event seem a bit more special. I think having them all the time would get old fast.

The most anyone would want to do is once a month. If your staff is volunteer and you have a decent crowd you will burn them out.

I like the once a year and once a quarter LANs. They seem to have more people attending and there is a common bond for the regular attendees like I mentioned above in seeing friends from out of town.

I think it is also harder to get sponsorships for frequent events. Either that or you will have to rotate who you get stuff from.

These are all just my opinions and thoughts.

As Steven Wright once said... "It's a penny for your thoughts, but you have to put your two cents in... Somebody's making a penny."

So use this for what you think it's worth.

Live near Toronto and like to game but you can't make it to Quakecon?

Are we talking about large, Lanwarish, MML type stuff? Or just local, friendly get togethers? When we first started having lanparties around here, we did it 1-3 times a month depending on what was going on (weekend lans). We dont do it that often anymore though (usually). Once a month is nice, sometimes two. As far as the big ones go, I agree with Bum.
