PC acting strange

Hi i recently bought a new high end gaming spec PC but have started having problems and was trying to figure what is causing the problem before i contact my supplier so i dont have to send them the whole rig back...

After a random amount of time idling and usually anytime the PC has to use more resources such as changing gfx settings in game, or installing a large program such as a game the PC shuts off and immediately starts up but with only the fans spinning, and with both the power and HDD led's being constantly on - as if its in hibernation mode or something. Then after about 2 minutes it resets and starts back up normally.

I usually build my own systems and never have problems with them but with having like 3 kids these days and one of those being newborn i just didnt have the time or the energy to build a new system but ive had it apart and checked all the connections and everything seems to be in order but i just cant nail this, im beginning to think its the PSU to be honest but opinions is what im after to help me get to the bottom of this very annoying issue.

Specs are...

Intel Q9650 cpu with Asus triton 81 cooler
8gig Corsair dominator 1066mhz but running at 800mhz atm
Asus P5Q deluxe mobo
Palit Geforce GTX295 gfx card
1tb standard sata II HDD.

please, any advice or opinions on this are very welcomed, need to get to the bottom of this.

Oh and im running windows vista home premium 64 bit.

3 kids.. how could I have missed such an obvious sign of the real problem! Now this raises a moral question, is it better that we assist in fixing the PC so that the parent can work out their frustrations playing CoD or do we think of the children and take comfort in the fact that a technology failure could bring them all closer together??
