The 9800 Pro should be around 50% faster, and cost 50% more, than the 9600XT. It has twice as many rendering pipelines and twice as wide a memory pathway, but it's clocked slower:
9600XT-4 pipes, 128-bit RAM, 500MHz clock
9800 Pro-8 pipes, 256-bit RAM, 380MHz clock (If I recall correctly).

They should both come with the same speed memory now.

You have the money buy 9800Pro if not buy the 9600XT.

For brand, I don't recommend Gigacube or Powercolor, go with any other brand.
