9600XT recall ? prolbem?

Hi guys, i have question for you. I just went to buy a 9600XT and none of the store of my regions carries them. I asked one store wich i trust, and the salesman told me the 9600XT were recalled by ATI. Even the ATI website say the card is sold out.

Futureshop(bestbuy) has it backorder too.

The recall was about overheating.

Any info about that because for a couple more i wanted a XT instead of the 9600 pro. Should i wait, is there a recall ??? any info ?

If there were a recall it would be on ATI's site (plus every other site on the net, The Inquirer especially).

Quantities have always been limited from the start.

The idea of a re-spin has been kicking around for a while too.

But of course that's just a rumour. But likely a more informed rumour than that of your salesman.

There could be something to it, but I doubt it based on the lack of buzz on the .net

well, i'm sure the ASUS is a good card, but i don't want to pay 40$ more for TV-out and TV-in wich i wont use.

O well, guess i'll wait and see, i could get a 9600 pro for 210$, XT is about 260$ + TX.

yeah of course they're canadian hehe. here a 9800XT is about 650$, 9800 pro is 550$ fyi so a 9600 XT for 250-260$ for me it's the best bang for the buck.

That's why i want one. And i wont buy a Nvidia.
