Read the segment about Virtual Memory to see where PCI-EX may offer some advantages by not requiring textures info be stored onboard. We shall see.

Good review, but not many pictures so prepare for some reading.

I'll be sure to read it by the time i get back from school but I have a question about all this PCI-X and express thing. AGP4x isn't maxed out yet and we already have AGP8x than why do we need anything faster?

----------
I'm a nuclear reactor cooling system programmer, if you see me running, it's probably already too late.

PCI-EX will allow us to use system memory as well for very big textures. currently even 8Xagp is too slow for that. The equivalent 16X PCI-EX will be closer to making this feasable. And there are a few instance where AGP8X is showing it's strengths over 4X agp, but for most peopl this will be of no use, and it is in areas, that even the big cards have a little trouble. People like, Crashman, Cleeve, and I say there is no diff. between 4X and 8X because the differences are very limited and very specific. There is also other advantages of PCI-EX in it's channel specificity and configuration possibilities. Evn if it's not used right away, the expandability and the core bandwidth behind the architecture will allow much more perormance possibilities.

Well some of us guessed it a LONG times ago.

Here's the first support for it from an Eweek article I included in <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=365839#365839" target="_new">this thread</A>.

Of course the first mention of DX10 being far off by me was <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=354823#354823" target="_new">this post</A> where I got the abilities of the R42X/NV40 wrong (didn't know about DX9.1 at the time thought PS3/VS3 = DX10)

And first time putting the two together with a goo date, <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=362404#362404" target="_new">here</A>.

HEhe!
