radeon 9600xt question

im looking at a new graphic card since the old one is getting to slow, i was looking at this card http://www.sapphiretech.com/vga/9600-xt.asp with 256MB on it, is there any idea to wait 2 weeks for the 256MB version instead of a 128MB version? they are at the same price anyway.

go ahead and get the 128

the 256 doesnt offer that muich more of performance for the price.

If they are the same price then check whether its a labeling error or not. Usually the added memory costs quite substantially. I saw a difference of $150 for the 9800XT

that is the strange about it, they are the same price and it is not a labeling error

It's possible that the 256MB card uses cheaper RAM. This is often the case, but I didn't expect to see it on an XT card.

If it is using cheaper memory there is a good chance its performance will be worse than the 128M one. Depending on how long you want to use your 9600XT it may or may not be worth it. I'm planning to use mine for about a year tops so I don't bother with the additional memory. By the time I'm gonna need it, Í'll have a new card.
