Install xp after windows 7

Hello,i want to install windows xp on my laptop running on win7 ultimate(RC).When i boot from XP CD,it starts and collects informations,load files,but then when i press enter to setup it says...setup could not find any Harddisk in your system,setup cannot continue..........Can anyone help me please.?

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

What XP version are u trying to install? I think that the problem is that u need the driver of ur HD since this should be SATA.

Hi bdboy,

I see two problems here:

1. You are still running the Windows 7 RC. Here is the information about Windows 7 Release Candidate expiring and what you need to do - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/release-...

2. Usually Windows 7 needs to be installed after the older operating system in order to dual boot (if that is what you are trying to do). Here is a tutorial work-around that lets you install XP after Windows 7 is already installed - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-ins...
