Interesting that there's this little note in the approved driver page at Futuremark;

<font color=purple>"The 52.16 drivers have 3DMark03 specific optimization for the Pixel Shader 2.0 test and that score is solely comparable between nvidia cards."</font color=purple>

Check the page here;

EDIT: The note about SIS is also a little sad;

<font color=purple>"The resulting image is not comparable to the Reference Rasterizer, but the drivers seem to follow the Optimization Guidelines. "</font color=purple>

Obviously nV loves playing it too, or else why optimize for it when they said they wouldn't?

Nothing new, but considering nV was saying everything was different with their new drivers with no floptimizations, it's simply another example of not meeting expectations.

Yeah it's a great OC and driver test tool IMO. I just don't like that it's been co-opted as the definitive benchmark for sales purposes.

I also like the way it has a habit of stressing other people's cards. :evil:

That sucks. People can play this down if they want, but I think that sucks.

Out of curiosity, has ATI ever done anything like this?

<i>8088 4.77 mhz
640k RAM
CGA, 12" monitor
20mb mfm harddrive
PC Speaker, DOS 2.0</i>

Yep, they re-arranged the shader instruction order, but it didn't change IQ. When Futuremark said that was a no-no (or when they got caught depending on your level of cynicism I guess), they removed it. There were also some 3Dmk01 issues. The events of the summer caused quick removal of anything that might cause problems (or at least that's what ATI says). So far there's been little reason to doubt that.

That may be the case here too, but until they have the option of doing two runs (one with and one without optimizations) then we have but one way to look at this, and that's <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=380639#380639" target="_new">the way they definied a few days ago</A>.

As for SIS it's just sad. I noticed no mention like that for the Matrox cards. :cool:
