Is there a voice recorder that records in DSS format for dictation purposes
as they do in the Olympus systems. Recording in WAV formats just results in
huge files.

Audacity Audio (http://www.audiost.com/) says its voice recorders
allow you to use a compressed format, but it doesn't mention DSS.
Keep in mind that Olympus uses a proprietary flavor of the DSS format
that has compatibility issues with the "standard" DSS format. If you
have plans of using your Olympus-created DSS files in non-Olympus
software, you likely will be stymied.
