The 2 have different pcb, but still the same chipset so mobo compatibility and speeds are the same.

Barton 2500+ @ 2200mhz (10x220 vcore @ 1.775)
Asus A7N8X Dlx 440 FSB
1gb Geil GD pc3500 Dual Channel (2-3-3-6)
Segata 80gb SATA 8.5ms seek
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro(420/700)

I just bought Asus 9600XT. Apart from HL2 coupon, I got a great card. With a bit of overclocking (core 500, memory 650) I got bit over 4000 3dmarks and tad less than 32 AquaMarks. Plus, image quality is better than on my old (dead) softmoded Maya 9500.

I would get Asus over Gigacube no question. Asus has much better warrenty and is known for being the high quality brand. It should come with HL2 since 1) its site says it does, and 2) all XT cards are suppose to come with HL2.

GigaCube has a 9600XT that is the fcking fastest thing around...they have a few different models, but one of them is the bomb.

Yeah the Extreme has FAST memory on it (same VPU of course) and good cooling. I'm still not a fan of their quality, and support. But the Extreme version does seem like it could be worth taking a risk on, as lon g as you can return it for the ASUS if things don't work out.

Powerclolour also has their Bravo edition which I think is even faster than the Gigacube. I'll see what I can dig up tomorrow, too tired from skiing to do it tonight.

But the thing is if it's a regular GeXpuke, then I would say go with the ASUS. But it's all a matter of taste, and reputation. Kinda' like BEER. :cool:

Yeah pretty SweEet! I'm not 'Really' complaining, but man I slept 'til 2pm today.

There was about a foot of fresh powder so the hills were great. I spent half the day in the trees and half the day in the Vert. Park. I banged my ass on a jump again, this time I did it because I tried to land backwards. Yeah I now realize I'm not there yet in the season.Kinda landed sideways so I noticed when I went to bed I couldn't sleep on left side cause it wasn't just tight but a bit sore. Woke up for the shower this morning an low and behold a little (well the size of a CD case) Bruise on my hip. Oh well it's definitely all worth it.

So RC, how the Frostbite recovery coming? Did you head out again since then?

Oh yeah, I guess to keep on topic. Gigapuke isn't great but they are trying to help their public image by releasing the Extreme so people will associate that quality/performance with the rest of their line. So if you are looking at an Extreme versus a ASUS then take the Extreme, but otherwise the ASUS is a better choice.

That's just my opinion of course.

Relax man. CoolS's post was an inside joke directed at GW and I. And believe me, we understood it and I know it made ME laugh, can't speak for GW.

Seriously, relax man.

As for the ram, I don't remember. I'm going to check it when I'm at work where I think I bookmarked the info.

Breathe, breath. Now maybe sleep.

Glad that you had all that new snow to play in. We are expecting a big storm here tomorrow where I live of 6 to 12". That's unusual around here. It might only happen once a year, if that. I may get to play here some.

The sled is all put back together, frost bite is healed up (although the goatee is bigger now from not shaving or trimming it) & I was riding last weekend lake racing. The only thing I have to do it fix the 2 cracks in the hood. Got to find the right Epoxy to do it & then get it painted a bit. I probably won't do that until spring. This last weekend, we didn't ride. Couldn't afford the gas. It took about $100 in gas the weekend before to go. By the time you pull up the sleds & the 4 wheeler gets 11 MPG & then jump on the sleds that get maybe 6 MPG, you've gone through $100 in a heartbeat. I did ride around here a bit on the old sled I'm selling. Our primary sleds are up north right now.

We're going on our U. P. vacation on the 8th through the 15th. Haven't settled on the place yet, just might do the Keewenaw this year. We'll ride 1000 miles on that trip, so I'm trying to get in shape for it. Like you, I have to ride myself into shape each season. I'll be in the best shape of the winter after our trip. I'm still getting sore as hell when I ride yet!

I do like the ASUS products, myself. I'd buy a ASUS card in a hot minute IMO

Dazzle them with Brilliance, or Baffle them with BS! :wink:

Good to here you're back to 'normal'. :wink:

Yeah it's just starting to snow here this weekend, and NOW it's too cold for snow <A HREF="http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/forecast/city_e.html?yyc" target="_new">(-28c [-45c or worse with windchill factored in])</A>, even in <A HREF="http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/forecast/city_e.html?wzg" target="_new">Banff it's TOO COLD (-26c)</A> to snow really (best snow falls between +4 and -10c).

Hopefully they will be making some snow in the bare spots (almost a month without appreciable snowfall on the hills).

HEading out for skiing isn't as expensive as carrying a trailer, but it is funny how different my gas costs are depending on 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. Having 4x4 on this weekend added about $10-15 to my total gas (there and back), and the owrst part is I was the only one free this past weekend, so the gas costs were all mine!

Oh well, it was worth it.

And now back to the Graphics cards (so people won't get angry :lol: ).

RE: <b>Gigacube Extreme Edition</b>...

I did find a link to the GeXcube R9600XT Extreme (still can't find the initial launch article though). It appears to have the 2.5ns memory on it as well, and comes stock clocked at 500/700(350x2). Here's the link;

<A HREF="http://www.nodes.co.nz/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=720" target="_new">http://www.nodes.co.nz/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=720</A>

It's the 9600XT GU-C3, but they don't mention memory speed on their website, just the core, which is nothing special;
<A HREF="http://www.gecube.com.tw/productCategory.php?proID=29" target="_new">http://www.gecube.com.tw/productCategory.php?proID=29</A>

And then there's the original Powercolor link from Xbit, which has an even higher 'stock' memory clock of 760mhz(380x2);

Snow what snow. 76F today.
Where the heck are you?

Seriously I wish people would edit their profiles just enough to give people SOME idea about themselves, without giving away that dark secret they are obviously trying to hide.

It really annoys me when someone wants to know the best price/card etc., when we have no idea they are posting from Singapore, India, Russia, etc.

Not directed at you, but it was funny when you posted the above I thought, where is HB that he's rubbing it in like that!
