Cheap $500 Non gaming laptop needed !

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

14-15.6 inch

3. What screen resolution do you want?

Does not matter although higher is always better if its within price range!

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

It's the only computer so I guess its a desktop replacement.

5. How much battery life do you need?

4-5 hours although more prefered

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

No games

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Simple Office suite usages, some netflix, music playback, and internet surfing

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

500gb +

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

Newegg of course, Lenovo, and Dell

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

4-5 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

Thanks for your help, how would you compare how the A6-3400M runs compared to the Intel i3/i5 options? Are they comparable speed wise?

Not exactly apples and oranges. Being quad core isn't the same as having higher performance.
A6/A8 APUs give up some ground in CPU performance to for some extra GPU muscle.
But they certainly capable of giving you good, all-round performance in the type of work you mentioned.
