I have XP Home with SP2 on my Toshiba laptop, I downloaded XP Professional
from my schools MSDNA site. My download timed out but I have the icon on my
desktop. When I try to run it I get a message saying from unknown publisher,
but I run it anyway, and still no action of it running. Do I need to
uninstall Home first? Or any other ideas?
Thanks so much

Unless it was specifically an upgrade version, yes you would have to
uninstall Home.

Hi,
What type of upgrade were you attempting? Were you just downloading the
image file for burning to CD, or were you trying to run it directly from the
download center? You should always do the former, never the latter. I would
suggest you delete what you have, clear the \temp folders on the system,
then start fresh. Make sure the version you download also has SP2, as you
will not be able to upgrade with anything lower without first uninstalling
SP2 from the XP Home system.
