I have a laptop with 4GB RAM that I can upgrade with 4GB more (one slot). I am a hrdware novice
and I don't know what specific kind of RAM I need.

My current memory is listed only as "4GB DDR3 SDRAM (1 DIMM)". I can find 4GB RAM sticks at NewEgg and other places listed as "204 Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM". Is this the same thing?

Also, there are different speeds available listed as 1066 (PC3 8500), 1333 (PC 10600), 1333 (PC3 10666), etc.

I haven't been able to get any help from either HP or the vendor I purchesed from. So how do I know what kind I need exactly?

Hello sambone;

First you want to find out what RAM you have installed.
And probably look for a matching part number.

CPU-z can help you figure out what you have installed.
