ge force to a 9600

i have a ge force 2 mx 200 32mb and am thinking of upgrading to a 9600 pro. i`m a newbie to this but i was told i need to make sure my agp(??) is correct. my motherboard agp is 4x, are 8x 9600 pro able to run on 4x??

Yep, they are. AND that would be a very good upgrade. Just find the other post on this board about the same thing.

Why would you suggest that? Even a 1 GHz proc will be faster with a 9600 over a 4200. Not at 640x480 of course, but do you really think he cares about that?

If he gets the good card now, he can re-use it if he decides to upgrade his proc/mobo.

Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.

9600 Pro works at 4x/8x. That's the only thing you needed to check with this card. Other cards are 8x/4x/2x and work with even older (2x) boards.

All the local stores where I am sell the 9600XT for anywheres from $1-$15(Canadian Retail) more then the 9600Pro which makes it a no brainer to go with the XT over the Pro. One store has BBA 9600 Pro going for $239 and the BBA 9600XT for $240. Both retail not OEM and both are Canadian prices.
