Ok take your pic!! I have a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard version 2, with the nForce chipset from Nvidia voted best motherboard of 2003 by Tom's Hardware guide.
I would get the GeForce card anyways.

Wow do you want a cookie.

My own beast: Athlon 2700xp+ (oc: 3200xp+ with 200fsb) , Radeon 9800pro (oc: 410/370) , 512mb ddr400. SO MUCH faster than my last computer (pIII 550......)

Looks like you have a nice system there but your 2700+ wont even run in a A7N8X Deluxe vers2 with the nvidia chip set.
That's why I went to the new board I wanted that Nvidia chip set Tom's felt so highly of and I wanted that ASUS board with the Nvidia chip set so it would fit hand and glove into my new Geforce Nvidia graphics card.

This is the third place I have seen this <b>exact same text</b>...get rid of it.

You want some real numbers?? Look at FPS comparisions in DX9 or just when AA/AF is turned on (or heck, even both!), then come back and tell us which is better! Don't get me wrong, I'd take the 5950U, but I'd rather have the 9800XT <b>ANY DAY</b>.

Those numbers on the 5950U are large, but when it comes to real-world performance, the 5950U doesn't keep up (especially in DX9 or with AA/AF enabled).

Damn Rambus.

His 2700+ will run in the A7N8X-E Deluxe V.2, actually. Oh yeah, matching chipsets with GPU cards means nothing. Why you got the 5900 is beyond me...must have been for a great price.

The card was given to me free from Nvidia. But I am going to get the 5950. But then again perhaps not I am waiting to see the new ATI card comming out.

nVidia did not send you the card for free!! They don't even make their own cards!

5900nu is fine for now, continuous upgrading only leads to disappointment (IMO). R420 is 2x the performance of the 9700Pro while R423 is 2x the performance of the 9800Pro (supposed figures), which are you getting (they will have a staggered [two months or greater] release it seems)?? New cards from ATi or nVidia won't be around until March at the soonest anyway.

That new 5950, would you buy that or have that also be free from 'nVidia'? It certainly isn't worth 400+ USD to minutely upgrade to something that isn't even #1.

Damn Rambus.
December 27, 2003 8:20:04 PM

Your reaction should be the opposite. ATI managed to make a much better card using a lot less resources.

Tell me, when you buy a car do you only look at the number of cylindres? A lot of cars in the 1960's had eight/twelve. Does that mean that they rode faster? NO! A modern 'little' 6V sports car with turbochargers would leave <i>any</i> of those old monsters in the dust.

Truly, ignorance hath no bounds.

I hope you're right, because I just coughed up $428 for the 5950. ATI, been there, done that. Besides, I don't want to support those Canandian bastards anyway, thanks for all the help in Iraq, NOT! God Bless America!

OK here is a thought!! I am a Canadian Basterd and I use Nvidia products not because I hate ATI but simply because I have seen both plants and ATI is a very nice plant and from what I saw a great working environment one of the best.

But I have also seen some of the contractors plants that build the Nvidia product and state of the art is an understatement.

ATI does most of their own work but Nvidia does contract most work out so you need to LOOK at the card and who made it to get the best type of that card. ASUS, NVIDIA and XFX all make GeForce cards and are very good at it. There are other manufactures that also make those Geforce cards but I have not been to those manufactures plants.

P.S please leave a message I am going off to play Day Of Defeat for the next 6 hours so I can kick all the bloody hackers out I mean BAN their WON id numbers.

That insulting ad in the top left of Tom's hardware guide pisses me off because WE WILL TELL IF YOU CHEAT AND WE WILL KICK YOUR HACKING ASS OF THE SERVER WE PAY FOR.... sorry for shouting I feel better ;)

By who's numbers? Hopefully not yours because it appears you can't count;

"<i>Rendering Pixel pipelines. 16</i>"

4x2 = <A HREF="http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031023/nvidia-nv3..." target="_new">8 pixel pipelines</A>, not 16. And considering that often they run 4x1 depending on the app, I would say ATI has the advnatage there.

And the final numbers are performance, and there the FX5950 straps what appear to be monster specs, to terrible performance. Whereas the ATI has lower specs but equal or better performance.

Graphics by the numbers? No sounds like drivel by the dozen.

Specs don't impress, final performance does, or else everyone would be buying XGI cards, since the SPECs are VERY impressive. The reality however is much different.

Also I guess the Parhelia is a far superior card by the numbers since it has a 512 bit core, has 3 ramdacs, and can support 3 displays. Awesome! Guess it wins the numbers game.
Now let's play a Shell Game!
