Young players retiring en masse?

I just signed a bunch of free agent 16-18 year olds during pre-season
and a few days after joining they all retired from professional
football.

Is this normal?

Depends on how you mean normal.

Kids do retire when they are young and can't get a club. They go off and
work in a fish shop or something. Of course in real life you wouldn't get
signed to a club and *then* retire at 16. But what has likely happened in
the game is that the player made the decision to retire, and the bug is that
it isn't cancelled apon joining a club. If he's retired though chances are
he wasn't very good as far as ability/potential went so you've just saved
yourself the time and money training him up.

Not necessarily. I was using FM Scout and snapped up quite a few regens
with potential ability 190+. Call it cheater's karma, but these were
brand new players to the database, in the game for less than a week,
signed for me less than two days, and SEVEN of them up and quit the game
on me! If it's not a bug, it is certainly cruel, or possibly racist:
they were all Italians!

I think I like the new anti-cheat system in FM B-)

You sure it wasn't just time for them to take their afternoon nap? When they
said retired, perhaps they just forgot to add "to bed".

Or perhaps they were so good that they just felt they didn't have anything
to proove.

Or maybe your management style was enough to put them off football for life.

Do any of your other players have rabies?
