My blue is fading so I took it all off except for the top label. If I
also take out that blue at the top will I no longer see the PalmOne Zire
72 label, or is there one engraved underneath the blue?

There is no logo or writing underneath.

I scraped all the blue off of my older one, and it looks just like the
"special edition" silver Zire 72 that my wife recently bought.

If you look closely you will see differences. There is an embedded logo and
style lines on the SE Zire 72 case. Also it has a better finish. The Z72 SE is
*not* the same case as the Z72 case without the blue paint. That said, IMO the
Z72 doesn't look bad without it's paint and is definitely an improvement over
that original unprofessional 'toy blue' color...

But you can still add the Z72 blue paint debacle to the long line of Palm screw
ups like failed backup capacitors and static sensitive USB chips.
