I did a system recovery to clean the computer. And it did
just fine. I went through all the little questions and
the it started but instead of the desktop all i got was a
black screen and a mouse curser. After 20 minutes I
restarted and got the error message: "The system is not
fully installed. Please run setup again." The recovery
info said it used a partition on the harddrive so I have
no CD to use. I am running Windows XP Home Edition from
maybe 2002. I can't remember the year. Plese help.

Boot and press F8 for the safe mode menu, choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt

HOW TO Start System Restore Tool from Command Prompt (Q304449): http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q304/4/49.asp

Run restore again, and you will get an 'un-do' option
