Problem Report

There was a communication problem.

Message ID

TCP_ERROR

Problem Description

The system was unable to communicate with the server.

Possible Problem Cause

* The Web server may be down.
* The Web server may be too busy.
* The Web server may be experiencing other problems, preventing it from responding to clients.
* The communication path may be experiencing problems.

Possible Solution

Try connecting to this server later.

I have more bandwidth than god so I know its not my connection. That computer hosting the site cannot handle the requests. AHAHAHAHAA POS AMD machines =)

Good example why not to use AMD based web server.

Hm, when I click their search button off their main site I get a "This page cannot be displayed" by IE. I've got DSL, so it's not my system. They have some issues to work out.

How is ANY of that relevant to the CPU section? Post it somewhere else like "Communications, Network and Internet".

i'm proud to fall under fugger's lable of an amd lemming, however he's right about the 'search' button. that's the only one i've had trouble with though.

At the core of every system: "I'm sorry dave, i'm afraid i can't do that."

Reply to jollygrinch

I think he FUGGed up the search server because he typed in:

I need a life and nobody likes me and I'm a big FUGG and please tell me what to do???!!!

then he hit enter, and thats when the FUGGing search stopped workin'

 <font color=green> I LOVE INTEL. It tastes like chicken </font color=green>

Fugger? Did you really expect a workable website from AMD? Don't blame them though, it's the cpu's they use in their servers....ahahahaha....hehehehe....
How can they commit their resources to fixing their website when they are trying to figure out a way to stop their cpu's from frying?
Did you know they are packaging a frypan and a bottle of oil with each of their new cpu's? It saves their customers from having to open up their computer cases. Ahahahaha......hehehehehe.....some customers even phoned back and said it doesn't go to well with their fish!!!
Ahahahah.....hehehehehe.....

Funny, web servers I know using AMD's processors are all running without any gliches. The key is, those machines doesn't use any M$ software :) It's really stupid to claim that AMD's website doesn't work cause of the processors they use/manufacture. Or maybe my car broke down cause I once transported "intel inside"-computer with it ? Bad Intel, BAD BAD INTEL !!!

I agree.. check out Anandtech's server farm. Most of them are AMD based boxes.

Yes. 2 servers actually. However, the software makes way more of a difference than the used platform.

I don't know... I'm not a spawn or anything. I'm not an Intel puppy. I'm not an AMD lemming. I'm just some guy trying to make a living as a software engineer and using whatever tools best meet my needs in the process.

I could say the following:
<i>"I do however find it highly reasonable that a company that has such poor software engineering resources that they couldn't write a decent emulator for their own chip and had to hire someone else to do it, is now having web site software difficulties. It only makes sense. Obviously AMD does not have great software engineers. They might be good with hardware, but their software is another matter."</i>

Or, I could say this instead:
<i>"I find it very funny that AMD is having bandwidth problems. Their products must be so buggy that their users are constantly on their web page trying to download the latest drivers or find other fixes for their problems."</i>

However, I won't say either of those things. Instead, I'll just say the following:
<i>"The problem sounds like AMD is having bandwidth issues, probably because they're grown to be so popular and are having a hard time keeping up with all of their new users. I guess that they just don't have enough bandwidth, or enough servers working on serving their website. Maybe they should put a little more money into running their site and taking care of their customers. They make good chips, so it's sad to see them having problems like that."</i>

Well Feddi that explains that data loss and the SQL database connection loses. Oh well use it I don’t take the site serious enough to worry about it except for some of the custom software is really well built. Good luck with ... *spud trying not to laugh* your AMD systems.

This explains nothing. As I said the software is way more important. What data loss are you talking about anyways?

Oh, hey, Fredi, while I'm thinking about it, there's a bug report that I keep forgetting to submit.

Whenever I go to change my profile for purposes of altering my autosig, I notice that instead of putting my proper password into the text boxes, it puts in some insanely long password. I have a feeling that it's still my password, but being repeated numerous times, or something just as silly. I can't really tell though, seeing as how it's a password text box, so all of the characters are viewed to me as asterisks. But in any event, it's mildly annoying because I have to reset my password each time I change my profile because of this bug.

i will loose the connection to the SQL data bases 5 or 8 times a day. I know the severs are congested at times but if the server cant complete or keep my request then maybe you shoould do some upgrades over there. Cause i know that it isnt my connection fault. Later aligator.

You <i>don't</i> know about every box that your connection goes through to reach the forums. Try tracerouting the forum servers sometime. See all the names/IP addresses it pulls up? Most of them aren't actually part of the forum server farms. If one of those names/IP addresses belongs to an unreliable box (say, a P3 1.13GHz), then it doesn't matter if you have an OC3 or better, or a piddling 56K like me. It also doesn't matter too much what the forum servers are running.

By the way, my piddling 56K has never lost the connection to the forum SQL server. Gee, and my router's running one of those "unreliable" AMD CPUs as well. Maybe it's just your bad day.

I know that my office's proxy server loses connection to THG a lot. But that's not THG's fault. It loses connection to any web pages a lot. That's the price that you pay for having a single DSL line split between fifty employees. :(

Usually, I'd have a better connection speed just using a 56k modem. That is, if I could use one here. Heh heh.

And I'm mildly depressed because I can't tracert from work. :( The joys of being behind a firewall. No telnet, no tracert, and no IMs equals no fun for me.

R U on some drugs or something?

I have a pretty good connection at work. THG never seems to get disconnected from there. It sometimes gets disconnected from home.

first of all I knew for a long time THG ran on AMD servers from pair.com, but also pair had problems not so long ago in configuring their AMD servers to there liking.

Oh don't worry. They will complain the colors suck because of the AMD servers, or something equivelantly idiotic.
