Been using Win2000 for years now but am getting ready to upgrade to XP. What is the difference between the 2 XP versions? I am a home user. I thought I read somewhere the Home ed was 32 bit and Pro was 64 bit. It that true? If so, does that mean that XP Pro is better or faster? Thanks.

I'm still confused. Are there any performance difference between the 2? ie. Do both support hyperthreading?

Reply to Jamers

Both support hyper threading, but only pro supports "real" multiple cpu setups. Pro has better networking support.

Get Pro. You'll feel better about it.

xp pro has "all " the controls your used to in 2k, its not watered down like home is. and its faster. home is a bit more unstable than the pro version. not by much but you play on it long enough you will notice it.
besides pro has gpedit.msc which after about a week you will wanna use, or you will go mad.

Oh and by the way to your question on 32/64 xp is 32 only, long horn when it comes out next year "supposedly" will be a combo of 32/64. or 64 pure depends on what article you read.
